Where are the most expensive areas to buy property in Wales?

Lisvane

Situated in the north of Cardiff is the affluent community of Lisvane. The beauty of this sought-after area is that it’s just a stone’s throw away from the city center, yet it still has that semi-rural feel.

Sam James, who works at Savills Estate Agents, has said that there are currently two properties on the market in the area, one of which is £1.25m (and has a trap door to a wine cellar) and the other just below £750,000. It’s no surprise that Lisvane Road was named the most expensive road in Wales in 2014.

Cardiff Councillor David Walker has lived in Lisvane for 31 years and he has described the suburb as a wonderful area which sits below Caerphilly Mountain, called The Graig, to the north of us which is very attractive. That and the open countryside surrounding us is a beautiful setting.

So whilst it’s an extremely expensive area to buy a property in, if you can afford it then why not set up home in this highly regarded location?

Cyncoed

Llandennis Avenue in Cardiff’s Cyncoed area is one of the most expensive in Wales. However, due to people buying properties here and staying put, this location is not picked up on Land Registry data.

If there aren’t any sales because of homeowners being settled, how could it get picked up? But according to Tony Filice, a director of Cardiff-based Kelvin Francis Estate Agent and Welsh spokesman for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, houses have been sold on this street for £1.2m.

Radyr

Radyr is an outer suburb in Cardiff, and it is here that topped the table for prices in 2013. The most expensive house for sale in Radyr was on Windsor road at £644,983.

Jayne Morris, Head of Sales for South Wales estate agent, Peter Alan has said that the area has excellent road and rail links; plus, parents are very keen to send their children to the comprehensive school here.

Radyr is one of Wales most prosperous areas and it is a popular suburb amongst professionals, so it’s no real surprise that there are houses on the market there for over half a million pounds.

Cowbridge

Cowbridge is a market town in the Vale of Glamorgan, one of Wales most affluent counties. In fact, the Vale of Glamorgan came second to Cardiff in the house prices table.

And at Westgate in Cowbridge, houses stood on average at £616,650.
